Suzette Nedrich, Public Information Director

Suzette Rhee Nedrich is the director of Mecklenburg County’s Public Information Department, which is responsible for providing news and information that keeps residents and employees informed about County initiatives, policies, programs, services and the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners. 

Prior to joining Mecklenburg County in 2022, Suzette had a long career as a local television reporter and anchor, working with stations in North Carolina and Virginia. She has served as an executive producer in public television, as anchor for the City of Charlotte’s GOV Channel, and has anchored Mecklenburg County’s What’s Trending segments on Meck TV. Nedrich has received numerous awards for television storytelling including Television Reporter of the Year by the Virginia Associated Press, many Radio and Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awards for individual stories, and an Emmy award for a 30-minute special program on gun violence at schools called Generation Under Fire.  

She has also worked in the private sector in corporate communications and has provided news media training for executive leaders and individual contributors in public and nonprofit sectors. 

Suzette was born in Seoul, South Korea and immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of nine and grew up in Fairfax County, Virginia. She attended Radford University in Radford, Virginia, earning a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications with a concentration in Journalism.
